Your First Month at the Department of Commerce

Have you signed up for health benefits? Remember that you must have this completed within the first 30 days of employment.

If you need to make any changes to your health insurance benefits in the future, keep in mind that you need to make the changes within 30 days of a "qualifying event" as determined by the health care provider.

Please meet with your supervisor to establish your Work Plan. The Work Plan provides you with goals and expectations of how to perform your job. Here is an overview of how the Work Plan fits into the Performance Management Program. Here is the policy on Performance Management.

Please review the State Employees' Safety and Health Handbook, along with how to handle the worker’s compensation process in the event you are injured on the job.

Any travel or expense reimbursement will need prior approval from your supervisor. Click here to view the Travel Reimbursement form.
