A message from Chet Mottershead, our Director of Human Resources:

Commerce EAP

Effective February 1, 2012, the Department of Commerce has partnered with a new Employee Assistant Program (EAP) provider, the McLaughlin Young Group – an independent provider of EAP services.

The McLaughlin Young Group offers help for personal and/or professional concerns by providing free, confidential, short-term counseling, and personal consultation. The EAP has a network of counselors that are located near your home and/or work location. They can help you improve or resolve personal difficulties whether big or small, personal, or work related.

There are lots of Wellness activities and programs that are available through this program as well. Confidentiality is one of the most important features of the EAP. No one will know that you have used this resource unless you offer that information or unless someone’s safety is threatened.

The EAP staff at the McLaughlin Young Group is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week and is ready to assist you. To seek assistance through EAP, simply call the McLaughlin Young Group at (888) 298-3907;

or visit the group at: www.mygroup.com.

Program details are as follows:

· We MUST have at least 15 participants to schedule a class, and the maximum enrollment per class is 30, so please respond as soon as possible!

· An instructor will come to our worksite and bring all curriculum materials and equipment needed.

· The cost is $30/participant, payable by check or money order.  The class fee includes the cost of a personal journal and magazine that participants keep.  Participants who attend at least 10 out of the 15 sessions will receive a $25 refund at the end of the program. That’s an 84% savings!
