Because employees spend 40 hours a week at work, it is important that the worksite be a healthy place. It is the mission of the Commerce Worksite Wellness Committee to promote physical and mental well-being by increasing awareness and by implementing policies that support healthy choices for employees.
Would you like to do something about the usual weight gain that the holidays can bring? Learn the tools and information you need to live a healthy lifestyle! Commerce Wellness Committee is bringing you another Eat Smart, Move More, Weigh Less (ESMMWL) program, available once again at our worksite. Eat Smart, Move More, Weigh Less is a 15-week weight management program that has already shown success in lowering and maintaining weight, reducing blood pressure, increasing physical activity, and improving nutrition amongst our fellow Commerce employees. Lunch-time sessions are held weekly from 11:15am-12:15pm in the Dobbs Building on Wednesdays beginning January 11, 2012, and concluding April 18, 2012.

A message from Chet Mottershead, our Director of Human Resources:
The NC Department of Commerce has begun a weekly walking program called, "The Friday Mile". Every Friday morning at 8:30, we encourage all employees to meet in the front of your building, and together, walk a mile. It only takes 15 minutes.
