When calling SHP Customer Service to verify benefits, it is important that you give specific information about the service being rendered, so the representative can effectively determine if preadmission certification or prior approval is required. **If the patient requires an inpatient stay, an impatient authorization is required. Under the SHP, this is called PREADMISSION CERTIFICATION and may be obtain by calling 800-672-7897. **Certain procedures require prior approval, it is important to mention the specific procedure that will be rendered.
